Stengthen your own self worth
I bet that you're more successful
than you take credit for.
Too many people mistake activity for
accomplishment in this world.
Just think of the following times:
- When you made your partner laugh
- When you helped you're kids
with their home work
- When you told someone that you
love them
- When saved up for that car you
always wanted
- When you passed your driving
exam
- When you passed your school
exams
- When you said "I do"
All of the above are major successes
that you just take for granted.
One of the most powerful tools to
boost your confidence is to remind yourself just how good you are.
I know it's probably against our culture
to pat ones self on the back, but the results are magical!
Playing to your strengths and improving your weaknesses
is one sure-fire way of improving your confidence.
But do you do both of these?
If I asked you now to list your strengths
and weaknesses, could you do it?
By knowing and appreciating both,
you can maximise the opportunities to utilise your strengths and
thus gain confidence - because after all, you're good at it!
Also, by planning and implementing
to improve your weaknesses, your confidence will get stronger and
stronger as you will have more faith to do the things you were not
so good at!
A win win if ever I have seen it!
Ok, time for some practicals!
If you haven't done so already, it's
time to remind yourself of the successes that you've had in your
life. What would you pat yourself on the back for?
List these below now:
Now, after you've written that list,
how did it make you feel?
I bet it made you feel you good!
After all, everyone loves to talk
about success!
Next, it's time to remind yourself
of what you are good at - your strengths.
- Are you a good organiser?
- Are you good with people?
- Are you a good listener?
- What skills have you got?
- What sports can you play?
You get the picture? Ok, list your
strengths below:
..and I've left
some more space for you, because I'm expecting it all to be filled
up! Get to it!
Ok, so now you've got a masterlist
of your strengths. See, I told you so!
Now, lets write a plan to make sure
you are exposed to using these strengths on a regular basis so that
you're confidence is given a massive ego boost.
Don't forget! You know you are good
at these, so you should be expected great results.
and what does
great results lead to?
.........
..
.CONFIDENCE!
.and what does increased
CONFIDENCE lead to?
....
you
got it - SUCCESS!
Write below a list of the activities
and situations where you can maximise and play to your strengths,
either with the people that you know or just the situations you
could put yourself in to do it.
I'd like you to write them out in
the following format:
- What are
you good at and how good are you at it?
- What feeling
does it give you when you've done it?
- How often
will you do this?
- When will
you start?
For example, if you are really good
at giving presentations, one of your activities might be to conduct
a presentation at work in front of some people.
- What would
the subject be on?
- When are
you going to do it?
- How often
will you do it?
It would look something like this
when written down:
I am fantastic at giving
presentations; they give me a real buzz. I am going to plan
to conduct a presentation at the end of each quarter at work
to highlight the activity that my team has accomplished. I
will start the first presentation on 12th November xxxx
Ok, now you know what to do, get cracking!
I'm expecting a big long list throughout
the following pages.
Just make sure that you now follow
through!
